I caught a glimpse of your eyes
trying so subtly to peek down my top
and imagine what wonders it could hold,
but your hands stay steadied in their work,
still stained with yesterdays ink and paint,
they mold that grey lump of clay.
And oh that childish grin you proudly bear
when you undress me with your eyes
and think I don’t know,
but what do you think I’m picturing
when I bite my lip and quickly look away.
(I’m dying for that clichéd moment
when you clear the table in one fair swoop
and take me like you’re some ravenous beast.)
I can’t imagine the pleasures that come
from hands that create such beauty,
I often wonder if I’m even worthy
of these simple grazes and playful taps.
Then your body quivers at innocent whispers
of no particular topics that twist
and kiss from my lips to your ears,
while we’ve turned this room
into some sort of dance floor,
where we tango with indecent ideas
and duel with the fear of losing our best friend.
I devilishly wear that pale blue dress
that hugs all the right places
and steals your train of thought,
you know the one, with its right strap too long,
it’s always falling from my freckled shoulder.
I lose my breath when you pass so closely by
and carry it in soft caresses back to its place,
or brush the hair away from my face
with those dangerous and taunting fingertips.
But these moments are too short lived
and never graced with certainty,
they escape us like sand through the fingers
when you wash your hands of this room
and return to the luckiest woman I’ve ever known.

Thank you for entering my contest! I haven't had a chance to reply to any of the poems until now. I loved this piece, my favorite part is "while we’ve turned this room
into some sort of dance floor,
where we tango with indecent ideas
and duel with the fear of losing our best friend." because I know exactly how that is.. to want to tell them, but to fear losing them, so you just dance around the subject and never talk about it. It gets maddening and frustrating and crazy.. -
Thank you for entering,

I really love this one! lol Its passionate, lustful, and the ending is a bit sad. Very well written, and I enjoyed every stanza, especially the imagery! Keep up the excellent work.

devilish and wicked, you place such delicious anticipation such wrestless tension, and then cruelly detach, yet you make us savor the moment.

There's a beauty to tragic love, or so I think anyway.
You're comments are fantastic, if I wrote half as well as you commented I'd probably be a published author. ^_^
Thanks so much for the applause and kind words
