When you wrap your arms around her-
aren't you ever afraid she'll break?
her bones of smoke will just dissolve someday.
When you kiss her on those trembling lips-
are you thinking of the fragile wings of butterflies?
they can't take pressure & neither can she.
When you gaze into her bloodyblue eyes-
are you ever wondering if she's in there somewhere?
these windows to her soul are shut & locked down.
When you spend so little time with her-
do you ever wonder where she went?
her once-vibrant colors faded to gray.
& how many times a day are you wondering
just what you're doing with a broken person?
she can't help herself. can you?
When she doesn't know what to do-
can you guide her faltering feet?
God knows she's too scared to look up from them.
When her eyes drip over with bitter sadness-
can you kiss away the hurt?
she needs to know that someone cares.
When she's tearing away at her insides-
can you show her the truth of who she is?
a floodlight into the cave of uncertainty.
When a soul is so close to utter failure-
will you be the one to save her?
Author notes
This is basically about a really really sad girl who doesn't know what to do with herself & her boyfriend who doesn't know what to do with her either. It kinda came out of nowhere but that's okay =]

hmmm...the writings that 'come out of nowhere' are usually fantastic...as is proven by this superb creation! Such clear imagery that burns holes in the eyes with the pain and lonliness that seems to pervaid these words...such an intensity of emotion, I wanted to cry, for this girl and her boyfriend....Thank you for sharing this, and taking the time to enter my contest,
