I can't think when you're near me
But I can't see when we're apart
Your smile sends me shivers
Your face is a work of art
Your hair shines so sweetly
And your laugh tinkles in my ear
I close my eyes and see you
Yours is the voice I want to hear
But I can't say it out loud
Can't let you know the truth
If you would just look around you
You'd see the great truth
I love you now and for ever
My heart is yours to own
but until I find the courage to tell you
I'm just here on my own
There's a secret deep inside me
I cannot spit it out
But I want to jump and scream
I want to run and shout
"I love you, baby, always,"
I want to say it so bad
And until I tell my secret
I'll slowly keep going mad
I love you, and I know it
But I cannot bear to say
Because to do so would mean admitting
That I am gay.

WHOA!
Definitely best write of this contest so far!
Not only do you have an amazing style in this poem - great structure, excellent rhyme - you have the most shocking secret anyone's revealed so far and you are the most candid about it! I appreciate that.
But, for the record, there is nothing wrong with being gay. At least not in my eyes. Ancient cultures practiced homosexuality and did not treat it as taboo.
I don't believe you can choose your sexuality - it's ingrained you - chemicals and hormones determine that - not your morality.
So, do what makes you happy. Life is far too short and far too fragile to deny yourself happiness because a handful of people think what you want is wrong.
Thanks for this AMAZING entry!
