Lost Among Us

Missing image

HE WAS

MENTALLY ILL.

BUT, WHO WAS HE?

They all said he was mad.

He continued to deny it, as

the door locked out the world.

He pled for his life from inside,

begging them to "Listen! Listen!

Why must I suffer hell in a cell?

That cop tried to kill me, see-

will you please believe me?"

The staff turned away,

as they quickly called

a doctor to give him a pill.

He was observed for 72 hrs until

they decided he should be put away.

He was placed in their state-run psych exile;

another road block in place, with a nightmarish face.

 A voice        inside his head kept telling him        to kill,

  and they        all deserve to die - the voices         don't lie.

 As he sat       all alone in a homicidal rage,        watched

   by staff,         he broke down and he cried,       attempting

     his suicide     by banging his head on the       padded wall.

   He was kept in restraints until a doctor saw him again;

but, by then it was too late, he was already gone.

This was not good, as a report had to be written.

He was              dead!

No one               could

say how              he did

it,though              dead

 men don't             lie, but

          they all agreed              he was psychotic.

         LIKE THE REST              OF THE WORLD

    DIAGNOSED WITH              SCHIZOPHRENIA,

    HE WAS ONE MORE             LOST AMONG US.

    Amazing and powerful write! So achingly true that my heart swells for this man's fate. Just "...one more lost among us." I feel his tragedy and I am amazed at your talent to take me on his journey...with every word, deeper. I will immediately add you to my favorites.

    BLESSINGS & LOVE,
    Doris
