Eulogy For Dandelions Undelivered

"A EULOGY FOR OUR MOST PRECIOUS MOM."

Mom made sure we were warm,
she made sure we were fed
she helped us get well
with a kiss on our head
she whispered, 'I love you.'
and tucked us in bed
Then she'd "Nighty-nite!" Susie
then Irline, and me....
sleep tight little David, much love dear Becky
She'd wake us for school
then Mom dressed us up nice
as she packaged our lunch
she'd spread love on each slice
I remember her cleaning
and ironing our clothes
I can still smell that pine-sol
way back in my nose
she loved us to massage
her feet, rub her toes
a penny an hour,
was the deal she'd propose
Her laugh was contagious,
we were always infected
her warm smile could cheer up,
even the most rejected
Sunday mornings in church clothes
we'd squirm, she inspected
then we'd march off to service,
as God had directed
She taught us to sing,
and she taught us to pray
she always dreamed we'd grow up
to be preachers someday
(Imagine that!)
Ahhh, but Sue runs a motel
where folks come to rest
and Irline's a nurse
healing's what she likes best
Me...I'm an artist
forming beauty from clay
and Becky with 13 kids
stays home each day
But David, Mom's youngest
got a call from the Master
and in less then a year
we will all call him pastor
Mom was always a giver
she gave 5 kids so much
she made everything better
with her soft, loving touch
then she kept right on giving
to her grandkids, I'm certain
that most days it was hard
Mom was old, tired, and hurting
She had raised all her kids,
now she shared Becky's burden
Her faith sometimes stumbled
and oft times she'd waiver
but always she turn back
and follow her Saviour
and though she had little,
except poverty
she'd say, "God's built a mansion,
in heaven for me."
she gave, and kept giving,
till Mom finally gave out
But she felt that's what
being a Mom's all about
~
Early one Sunday morning
one I'll always remember
on the twenty-third day of
her final November
she came out to the kitchen
for a cool glass of water
said,"Good morning." to all
her grandkids and her daughter
Then she laid down to nap,
just a while before church
and while sleeping ......
her precious heart failed with a lurch.
~
But Mom went to a new church that truly must be
the brightest, and best throughout eternity
there she sang in a choir of Angels, and Saints
where tears never fall, and the heart never faints
then she sat at a banquet, with her Mom, and Dad
and with all of her loved ones, that heaven has had
and she praised God for offering his son as a ransom
Then she went to prepare 'us' a place in her mansion
~
and it seemed rather odd, that she'd left behind things
Things that when she went somewhere
she'd make sure she'd bring
like her pair of eyeglasses, and her pills for diseases,
even pain pills, and stuff for her sniffles, and sneezes
but God healed her that day,
Mom can fly if she pleases
and she won't need her glasses
cause Mom finally saw Jesus.
