I found myself inside a jar
upon a pedestal quite far
from where I wanted to be
on account of society
who screwed the lid on extra tight
and bid that I might shine a light
just like a little firefly -
was it society or I?

I guess I don't get it but will read it again and again until I do. Thank you for accepting our invitation.

Hi Alix,
It has to do with how society can confine you to a certain role, whether that be society in the larger sense or society in the small sense, like the clique you hang out with - but that it is up to you whether you let them or not.
I saw the woman in the jar, acting out the role of sex symbol, eating roses, etc, as being "sealed in" by society's expectations of her and the woman who was on the outside, showing that she was happy to have escaped that.
