Jenelda's Ozzie Bustout

Missing image
JENELDA’S OZZIE BUSTOUT.

Listen now while I tell you a tale
of  an aussie ocker banquet
it’s the best and never will it fail
when we’re serving fresh rabbit.

But first the appetizer
of vegemite on cracker biscuits
for nothing could be nicer
unless you try Galah’s giblets

Swigging down a four X
while waiting for the entrée
and your muscles you can flex
if you feel like having a play.

Then out comes the entrees
Witchetty grubs to savour
disguise the taste with satay
peanut sauce adds xtra flavour.

Have Kangaroo meat for a meal
It may be tough so chew it well.
Perhaps you might prefer some eel
that’s cooked on barbycue - tastes swell.

Wild pig and Emu,Wombat stew
with veggies now that is a must.
A Tooheys beer or maybe two
will wash it down real well I trust.

For sweets you have the pick to try
a dish of berries and mango fruit
eaten raw or perhaps in pie
whichever way it tastes real beaut.

A paw paw is quite nice to eat
and bananas when they’re soft and ripe
strawberries and camels’ cream a treat
and caramel cream pipe.

To drink you have your choice of wine
and beer, perhaps a scotch or rum
our tea and coffee will be fine
and after-dinner mints for some..

the tables cleared to have some fun
I see the King is dancing round
I think I’ll go and join someone
and take a walk around the ground.

If this is not quite to your taste
then all this food will go to waste.

Dear Jen, I think some of your menu even I will pass by as being too rich for my tummy. But a great menu and poem no less and good luck with the voting.
    Love AJ

    Um, live? grubs?
This menu is calculated to separate the Ozzies from the rest! I can imagine your wink at one wild dish after another. Nicely done, sweetie, best of luck!

Hmmm Margaret, you read me well. At least it's not as bad as Heathcotes.

Some sounds good...some sounds right down scary!

Grubs, kangaroo, wombat and Emu...I won't be RSVPing yours or Heathcote's buffet.

Emus are cute, in an odd, ugly sort of way. I gave Aesthete2000 one called Emmett, well a photo of one...actually she found the photo, I just played God and created him. Ignore me.

Well Yem, just eat the food you like, but please RSVP and join us. Yeah! Heathcote's is sicker than mine.

The rabbit sounds good, never tried it but it sounds edible. Heath's should be sealed in a vault where no one can read it!

I tried vegemite once, it is scarce here...for good reason...my goodness, it may be the worst single thing I've ever tasted...and I like almost everything!

You probably put too much vegemite on whatever it was you had. You only put a thin layer on, I love it on warm toast where the butter melts and the vegemite mixes in with the butter. YUMMY!

    Dear Jen,

I think that with this menu you are either witch or wizard
so many dishes suit the wishes of the Ozzie gizzard
but from your list I see you missed the fricassee of lizard
which was first choice in "People's Voice" of Governor Kathy Tizzard.

And I'd be chuffed if, boiled or stuffed, you'd add on possum pie
'coz they're a bloody nuisance here, sent out by Captain Bligh.
And while we're talking pie, my dear, please take back all those maggies
which chase our native birds away but leave us with the shaggies.

In fact, if I just stop and think, most of the pests we have that stink
were introduced here by some fink from Oz long time ago.
So, if you feel there's any lack, please come and take the whole lot back
and let us Kiwis have a whack at running our own show.

Seriously...have we sent any of our pests over to Oz, apart from Kiwis on benefit?

Splendid menu that you set out before us. The king will be tucking in goodo. Best of luck in the voting for your bonza pome.
Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh (R.)

      You're right Hugh, I'm a Witch.
No, I swear I haven't sent any pests over to NZ not even in Joan's suitcase! And I dunno if you sent any over to OZ when you came over here! Maybe you did!

    A walk across the seas,
    done with considerable ease,
as atlas and globe I traverse
to find the home of this verse.

    A bountiful bustout to savor,
the hostess doing us a favor,
    with a must festive tone,
    flavors known and unknown.

    Jenelda, your bustout is supreme,
even tho the whitchetty grubs appear extreme!
I applaud your variety, your friendly presentation,
your bustout is indeed a smashing sensation!

    Not crazy, Jenelda, but creative!!!!
