I caught a handful
of only emptiness,
a dull growling
I feel rumbling through me,
night after night.
I taste only a burning
on simply the tip of my tongue;
a readiness to shift
into another line.
My feet swear I've been here before,
but tongues can lie,
especially with no air
tracing the circles
of our movements;
me glued to you,
or you to me.
Your paws grasp impossibly,
waving away any doubt
of infinity.
The fruity blooming of every evening,
collides endlessly
with night's embrace.
You were sullen one last time,
spoke of a dissipation
I knew I'd feel-
knew I'd feel
for just one moment
of my living.
