while rains keep on falling
umbrellas don't help us.
As the levees come down
we continue to cuss.
It's hard in Big Easy
living happy and sane.
The acid pollution
destroys the ground cover
without a solution.
It's hard in Big Easy -
funds gone is a jiffy
on an overseas war
when devious people
are aware we need more.
It's hard in Big Easy
when my wife's out of town.
I can't find a lady
to moisten my q-tip
on streets that are shady.
Author notes
A Monchielle is a poetry form developed by Starhiker.
It is four stanzas of five lines, each line having six syllables.
The first line repeats in all stanzas and line 3 & 5 in each stanza rhyme.
I have used all three options with the following word bank words:
acid, devious, easy, happy, jiffy, living, more, q-tip, umbrella, wife
Big Easy is the nickname for New Orleans which took the brunt of Hurricane Katrina.

I liked this poem very much and the last stanza made me smile. I wish you much luck in the contest. God Bless,

Nicely creative and well written on a City with so much culture and beauty, yet so dark and shadowed...they have suffered so much...you used the form and word bank well...I thought the ending just dropped to a stop suddenly, but that is just my perception...
Best to you in the contest!

Very good!
I liked your Monchielle poem very much. It had it all, it followed the form rules, it used the word bank, and it had a double entendre! Automatic finalist! My favorite part was what I figured was the double entendre, the three last lines of last stanza...
I can't find a lady
to moisten my q-tip
on streets that are shady.
Brilliant!! Thanks for entering my contest, I wish you best of luck!
