Angelica’s Banquet.
Appetizers:
To start the night with finger food, there’ll be
biscuits and cheese, canapés to suit all taste.
Our famous chef is quite a cook you see
for when the night is done there is no waste.
Entrée:
A spicy pumpkin soup with crusty buns
served with a dob of sour cream on top.
Fresh prawns with tartar sauce will be the one
you won’t resist a taste. You’ll eat the lot.
Main meal:
The smell of lamb and pork proclaims a roast.
All kinds of veggies grown on Castle land
or lobster mornay on rice of which I boast
the very best to eat. It tastes so grand.
Entertainment:
And while you eat the music plays real soft.
The Castle band will take requests all night.
As chatter round the table gently wafts,
their voices ring out loud in sheer delight.
Desserts:
Then next out come desserts for us to view.
There’s much variety of sweets to choose
and it can’t harm the waist to try a few..
I see some favourites there so that’s good news.
The list is long with so much choice to make:
apple pie with dobs of cream is first
ice cream in many flavours - then there’s cake
but must not eat too much or else I’ll burst.
And fruit for folks to try who don’t like sweets
plus cheese on platters guaranteed to please
a taste of many countries’ finest treats.
The bread and butter pudding I can squeeze.
Beverages:
The wines and scotch will surely please the crowd
and ale and stout plus Coopers lager beer
was shipped to Huguelot. It made me proud
to think our beer was chosen to bring here.
Our King and Queen are having fun tonight.
Of course dear Hugh is ogling all the boobs
for low-cut dresses leave a lot on sight
as round the room he dances “Blue Danube.”
If this is not the greatest feast around,
where else can many hungry poets be found?
N.B. Fresh cups of tea and coffee for those who wish.

Pumpkin soup! Sour cream! Ice cream! Fruit (from Australia?)
What time do we start?

-
Well I'm on my way over with hunger intact
I don't think I've seen a feast like this in what seems like centuries! Woot! Bravo! Save me a seat please

-
Congrats AJ on your green trophy.

OHH dear, another one I missed commenting on. I told Heath we spend too much time in bed.
It's a great entry AJ and a lot of beaut food that I love.
Love Hine

Ah, your elegance is justly rewarded,
angelica!!!!More greens to grace your buffet! -
Here I'll take the lamb, the apple pie and the tea...oh boy, I will have to eat something real, because I'm almost licking the screen

Nice and yummy banquet Joan!

-
I'm so hungry now...and I just ate a whole pint of triple chocolate ice cream with mint chips. (Yum). I love how you describe the setting for the banquet, and not just the food. Good luck in the contest
-
Dear AJ, A real cork of a menu, everything there that I love, I'll definitely stop by your table.
Good luck in the voting.
Love Jen

Scrumptious!
Your table is beautiful, and you have thought of every detail for a wonderful banquet. I found everything appetising, and wished that I could find this menu somewhere in real life. I love desserts, and paused over
"apple pie with dobs of cream is first
ice cream in many flavours - then there’s cake"
Bonza! great menu, nice presentation!

"for when the night is done there is no waste."
If I am invited I can guarantee there will be no waste!
You know, 50 years old and I don't think I've ever had lamb. It just doesn't seem to be sold here much and when it is, they ask a pretty penny for it. Will try it some day.
If I ever want to become King of Huguelot, I know how to make that happen...dress all the ladies in overcoats...poor Hugh, he would not survive the shock!
I'll BMOM (Bring my own Moxie.)

Yummy good!!!
I've been eating pinto beans with okra the past couple of days while Lynn finished off the sandwich meat. I'm so hungry for real food and I cannot wait until tomorrow when we go out to eat. I'm glad I stopped by for your lovely banquet. Although, now, tomorrow won't seem nearly as grand.

Dear Bea,
In setting out your menu you have thought of everything,
providing here a banquet that is fitting for a king.
I'm pleased to note that I'm allowed tonight a bit of fun
and hope the queen won't mind it if I dance with everyone.
Of course, between the dances I shall stop to eat some food
for not to try out every course would be extremely rude.
With so much fare to tempt the appetite, t'would be a waste
if, getting fatter, from each platter one refused to taste.
I hope the band plays slowly as we waltz to "Blue Danube"
and as we dance I get at least a glance at every boob
for a low-cut top will often flop if not held in too tight,
and bring the king to do his thing and whet his appetite.
A fantastic feast. Well done. Good luck in the voting.
Applause, love and hugs, XOXOXO Hugh (R.)

Angelica, such a grand affair,
the well dressed guests,
the superb array of food,
of which I take particular note,
fresh veggies grown on Castle land.
You have provided your guests
with their hearts' desires,
including soft music, and
waltzing to the "Blue Danube."
Well done!!
