It's Too Late

I tried to tell you...
I really did...
But to you...
I was only the "kid."

Times have changed and I'm older now...
You believe you can change my mind somehow...
Thinking that you can have me now...
Thinking that you can win me over somehow.

I would like to say you have a chance...
But I refuse to be the puppet... I refuse to do the dance.
You can do what you do and say what you say...
This is my life, and I choose to do it my way.

Believe me, at one time I didn't think I could live without you...
Now, I see that maybe I'm better off without you.
You turned out to be someone I never knew.
Everything everyone said was really true.

The time we had was really great...
You still ask me if I believe in fate...
You've become someone that I try not to hate.
I'm sorry but for you, it's just too late..

the rhyming at times seemed forced, but overall i liked this piece. I liked how you used the title and how you tied it into the ending.

    thanks for entering
