There is rain in the bodies
and words of everyone
clammed to this collection
of weeping islands,
and you have to learn
to swallow everything
with water
if you are going
to survive here.
They took me here
to teach me –
sent me skidding over
tablestone rocks
lapping up the sea
spilling over and into
my small white hands,
which clung to the rocks
and trembled with laughter.
I remember believing
that if the last stones had
not been torn up years ago,
I could run like waves and flames
across the sea.

This is quite an intersting take on the sea, and your unusual phrase, "run like waves and flames" really caught my imagination. I'd like to thank you for taking the time to enter my contest, 'Images From Around the World' with your beautifully thought-provoking poetry. The imagery was perfect for this piece!
Judging will be done soon, and I wish the best of luck to you!! Thanks again, and have a great day!!!
Take care, Cyn
