Wow, this is striking! Loving the whole thing here, very much The colours, blending, superbly done I am impressed Such a shame the other side doesn't show up on screen, where you have the words mushoom dance. Never been sure if thats AP or just my screen tho. I'm sorry to say I can see the smallest of seams in the border. Not where bear can see it tho...and I looked quite hard there. The one I see is lower down, just in line with the name of the contest, where the boarder begins again. But you've done a fab job, I had to look for it And I see none in the main body. As I rule I usually prefer slimmer margins, I find them less distracting. But here that has worked really well. The colours seem quite font friendly. Would love to know what you used to create this Over all I think you have brought us a fantastic piece of art, thought outside the box with the design and put it together beautifully.

    Creativity ~ 19.9

Blending ~ 19.7, I do see the smallest of seams in one place.

Colours ~ 19.9 they blend beautifully

    Originality ~ 20, highest score I've given

Title/Rules ~ 19.7 having BG in your title can always be added later IMO

Total ~ 99.2...Wow! My top score so far

    Hi again Titia!

You have created an eerie mood with these mushroom pictures. The warping effect is beautifully applied on the (left) border. The undulating warping shapes echo the mushroom shapes. The foggy and shadowed background adds another layer of intrigue - it suggests an ideal environment (of moisture) for mushrooms to flourish.

The background appears seamless - good job with that.

What I like less are the words "mushroom dance" in bold with all caps - I see that the type has been manipulated using an effect, which I admire that you are able to pull off, however, I think it detracts from the wonderful mood of this background.

Font visibility and choice of font colors work very well.

    1. design/composition 17.8

    2. originality(of concept) 19.6

    3. color(compatibility) 20.0

    4. execution 18.0
    (effects/clarity/resolution/seamless)

    5. legibility 20.0
(readability/sufficient contrast between type and background.)

    TOTAL 96.2

Thanks. I didn't change the colours, they came out this way when I took a picture of fallen leaves. I blurred it for the background and used a small piece as a fading border. Then I put in the mushrooms and faded them. I used the 'twisting' brush (PSP9) to play a little with the transition of border into background. It's a bit hard to explain, because my PSP is in Dutch and I don't know the English names for all the effects.

    Hi Arkbear,
Thanks for the uplifting comment you gave my creation.
About the seam: can't see what you see.

As for the hills and valleys.....we don't have them in my country. My country is as flat as a tray. The only 'hill' we have in the South is a cooky on the tray, compared to the hills and valleys you have in the States.
