Minor Victories

I ate half-toasted bread
with a slice of victory
resting on the edge
of dehydrated lips.

I won the battle
as I bled,
sitting,
contemplating how fear
feels so much like excitement.

Author notes

Contrary to what you may expect, this is a happy poem.

    'contemplating how fear

    i love those lines.
and fear does feel an awful lot like excitement, anxiety and excitement also feel quite similar. maybe excitement is just a rubbish emotion? you know what it is? it's a copycat emotion and just stands there camoflouged, I reckons thats what reallllly happens. lol

it's funny, and completely irrelevant, I just saw your age thing and it said 17 and I'm like no she's not...and then was like...wait a seconddd....see is lol

    hope you're okie

    Chelli,

This is fantastic darling! It does have a certain undertone of happiness in it. But not all may see that like I do. but then again, that is why I am mom, I know you

Ek is lief vir jou altyd
