Of Faith and Scholastic Gibberish

One cannot comprehend faith
by listening to knowledgable speakers
or reading various doctrinal texts....

Au contraire!
Faith is born in one's heart ~

freely, with total abandonment
of mindsets and vices.

Faith comes in knowing God

on a personal level ~
forgetting scholastic gibberish....

Quiet your spirit long enough

and listen to the still, small voice

speaking from within.

Nice take on the prompt. For years we have had a lay preacher at our church. He is quiet and speaks from the heart. We now have a bible thumper. I think he believes in god, but he yells the whole time. I believe faith can be coaxed quietly rather than being yelled at you by an educated preacher.

It appears your experience has lent you an intellect capable of comprehending existence without documented proof. It is sad that some would assume that such wisdom is synonymous with stupidity. Less than 60 words means little when picked and prodded by one, such as yourself, whom can make them mean thousands.

You are a very fine artist. ^^

This is excellent! I wasn't too sure about it when I saw the title, but then I read it and it all came together. My favorite part is:

    Quiet your spirit long enough
and listen to the still, small voice
    speaking from within.

I think I hear that voice often!

Great job and good luck to you!!
    Hugs!!!

    Nice,

I can surely understand where you're coming from, for man will let you down, but faithin God will help your spirit grow. Excellent entry poet! All the best to you in the contest! Peace, Timothy aka poeticweaver~
