Sustained stress prickles psyche.
So tired...
of the monolithic hospital
where father lies tonight
on crisp sheets.
Back at the hotel
the hot tub tantalizes
yet I didn't think
to pack a suit when they flew him
out of Farmington.
Saucer eyed I wander
into the lobby finally opting
for dreams induced with chocolate Haagen Dazs...
although I prefer dulce de leche.
.

Heaped with emotion, this gives us a small sense of what your feeling...I feel certain, a very small sense, but it opens our minds and hearts to embrace you even more
Loved it~Tia

Awww Pennye! This is so well spoken, so intricately detailed - yet still quite pained. I am so sorry you are going through this, and hope that you are doing okay ... And your father?
Lovely depth and scattered imagery to stain through. Nice write!

Thinking of you at this difficult time; glad you have a good tub and access to Hagen Dazs, though.

I too use the seduction of ice cream, and sherbert to soothe and cool my searing soul. I feel these words and understand. My dad lingered with a terminal illness before his passing on although, he did not suffer long. Sometimes all we need is a quick get-away! An excellent rendition of the need to relax if just for the moment. I wish you well in the challenge.
Much Love Always ♥

Hello there Hoodoo, so ice cream soothes the soul for you. the elixer of your stress is just as healthy as a hot tub. even better in my books as so much stuff is floating in those heated cesspools. ugh. I hope all is well with father. I really enjoyed this poem .
