The Front Porch Swing

Watching through the screen
as the world goes back and forth
Listening to the bugs sing their soulful music
and watching the the humming birds drink that sweet
nectar
The sound of dogs barking in the background has mine
going crazy
As the sun falls
and the dark closes in-
the peacefullness of the miniature town has dissolved
Instead of hearing the bugs,
I hear the commotion taking place adjacent of me
But I'm still watching through the screen
as the world goes back and forth-
observing the neighborhood from the front porch swing

Author notes

I'm describing my neighborhood as I was sitting on the front porch swing late in the afternoon. It's so peaceful and dreamy, but come night, the druggies are on the street.

    Excellent

I've lived in a place like that before. It's amazing how things change when human beings are added to the equation. The things that are nice are still there though, just drowned out by negative forces. Nice imagery in this. I would suggest you play with the wording a bit, so sound a bit rhythmic. Maybe use a certain beat in the lines. Good Write. ~Peace~Gar

I would rate your comment 5 stars but my computer is being irritating tonight, so I'll do it another time But thank you for the comment, and I'll try working on the rhyming. I just learned about that in English this past week.
