Rainy Day Garden Walk

Missing image
Wet feet, squishy walkways
nasty, annoying bugs
biting
face swelling up
raining again

Horrible day for a garden walk!

People arriving, though
carrying umbrellas
20 gardens to walk through
all unique
gorgeous ‘black-eyed susans’
blooming next to white phlox,
backgrounds of zebra grass,
swaying in the wind,
concrete rabbits
peeking out through sambuca shrubs
and contrasting nine-barks.

Shovels handy for buying clumps
potted plants on stands near-by
dried flower arrangements,
under patio covers,
next to hand-painted benches
to put out in your own garden.

‘Hanna’ not supposed to hit this area
but weather man wrong
again

Still, a lovely garden walk
other than the biting bugs!

Author notes

very fast write...lol

The picture is one of my friend's garden - she called it 'The Daytona Garden' for her father - he is dying of cancer. She is one of my closest neighbors and friends. I was happy to see so many people come out in the nasty weather this morning for her first 'annual' garden walk.

Actually, today is the first day of fall here - and most of the gardens are gone - just a few bright spots left. In fact, last night a lot of areas got their first frost! ....brrrrr....

She has a lot (20) of beautiful gardens and walkways - it usually is a very peaceful place (today wasn't as we were trying to get everything in the ground and plants covered for the frost tonight! ).....usually, though, very peaceful.

Thank you Rob - that's only a small piece of that particular garden. The weather-man was forecasting sunshine and no rain from 'hanna'....lol....wrong again!
But, yes - it was still a nice showing.

Hello. A nice write, but I have to say I can't appreciate this as much as someone with green fingers, as I know next to nothing about horticulture, other than grass is best green and growing up, ahahah. I do hope that your friend, her father, and all concerned find strength and peace, individually and collectively. My regards.

Actually, if you have a lot to mow, grass is better lying down and brown...hahahaha

I don't have all the pics uploaded yet - and I can only use one pic anyways - but that garden has much more! She also has a nice garden for her brother Rob who was killed in a motorcycle accident last year (2 mos. before his 50th birthday and his lst grandchild!). her gardens are beautiful!

Wish I had been able to put up more pics of the rest of that particular garden - she made giant 'fish' out of those curved stones and filled them with marigolds...just so many things to see in her gardens!
I have a BIG lump right in the middle of my forehead - from a sweat-bee sting!!! sheesh!
