Identity Crisis

True companions, even as the end draws near.
Sharing struggles, sentiments and strife.
Together, entwined through many years,
a friendship embraced with all of life.

Senility's tear runs down her cheek,
as she spills her sad tales of woe.
"Yesterday is too far gone,
Oh, where did all of our time go?"

"Although memories live in my heart,
my mind, sometimes, it can get tricky."
"And though I know exactly who you are,
I can't place your name for the life of me!"

He held her hand, while he thought for a while.
Amazed, that even now, his heart grows.
"I'll tell you my name when I remember, dear,
but how soon do you have to know?"

Though sad, the end shows humor. Life is just a joke that the universe plays on us. This is a delightful read. Thank you for entering.

    Lovely stuff
Great tender humour and thanks very much for the entry!
I am having a lot of fun reading the wide variety of poems in this contest but unfortunately the rules required a pair of poems and you have just the one, as such I cannot put this into the finals
Thanks again and all the best
    Jeff

That's ok...I never wrote a second one, just this one because I knew you liked rhyme and wanted to make you smile for the anniversary contest, never needed any tin, lol.
