evening sun sets on my restless mind
nightmares toss and turn as dusk closes in,
moonlight bathes derelict visions
finding no escape to numbness,
cause and effect rehashes old ghost
imprisoned in a soul of no return,
remorse splattered upon walls of guilt
haunting my every waking moment,
time lapses into rusted dreams
corroded by intentions less deserved,
emptiness follows me relentlessly
keeping one step ahead of peace,
and I wonder; does time ever forgive,
or will hell chase me evermore?
