A Foul Wind Blows

He rose from the lake with wave of hand
From the beautiful sprite named Vivianne.
Broad was his wing, powerful his form
He must fly far before the coming storm.

"Pegasus I name thee, my pet from afar.
A foul wind blows from the lands of Azar.
We must gain aid from the kingdom of man
Or soon see the death of this beautiful land."

Pegasus and Vivian flew far through the sky,
In hopes to find someone or magic would die.

Author notes

Inspired by the fantasy artwork of Pat Brennan
The character, Vivianne the water sprite, is the "Lady of the Lake, from the story of Merlin. Pegasus is the son of Poseidon from the ancient Greek fantasy stories

A good title and interpretation of the picture prompt. A very good story poem. Good imagery, flow, rhyme and tone. Vivid descriptives. Lovely depth of feeling. Very nice meter. Good word choice, alliteration and nice assonance. Thank you for your entry.

Fabulous write a perfect tale, the wonderful thing about fantasy is just how vivid you can make the story and in this case in so few words. Job well done, Boog

Laughing... It wasn't easy.. I may, after this contest ends, expand it considerably further. The story within it just begs to be told.

Thanks for commenting, your words and encouragement are greatly appreciated.

A wonderful write you have crafted here. Great form. Pegasus, the son of Poseidon...if I spelled that correctly. Best to you in the contest.
