The corridor stands strong;
hard stone slabs
and an arched granite ceiling
that has lay in wait for centuries.
In the centre of the floor
sits a mahogany cot,
Victorian design with a modern finish;
it doesn't even matter if its real.
This is the only survivor of the fire,
an inferno that cooked the entire building.
A married couple with a baby fought valiantly
against the flames, but Hades overwhelmed.
~~~~~~
Translucent in the eerie light
they sail forward;
approaching the cot,
and peacefully put their child to rest.
No tears spilt,
but pain dissipates down the corridor.
Good night, and sleep well;
Ill be watching over you.
Nice.
I like that you make this a poem and a story. You knkow how to weave it together. With most poems people simply write down words thatdescribe their emotions, and dont actually tell a story. -
