Nicely and brightly done I do love the BG colors and faded image. The sideways bot is an interesting approach. Best of luck to you...Scott

    Welcome to the B&B Contest!
This is a very luscious and vibrant I love it! it's like a dreamland of nice lusty colours. you did very well with the sweep like effect. I rather like the side on picture it defiantly is original.

Creativity~ 19.8 I love the side on picture and all the vibrancy!

Blending~ 20 This is completely seamless from what I can see. Congrats!

Colours~ 19.9 I love all the vibrancy bouncing off the page. It's a very warm B&B indeed.

Originality~ 18.6 Very nice side picture and sweeping effect yet the overall take on the autumn feel is rather Cliche.

Legibility~ 20 I can read the text very well over this and thats just great

Lost Vampyre Angel's score: 98.3 Well done!

Possibly you'll find my second entry more original. Why did I get a 19.9 on Colors? What did you think was wrong that deserved the .1? Not arguing your choice, of course, but curious why you did that. I know you give 20s seeing as you gave me 20 in two spots. Also, wouldn't creativity and originality be quite similar? Thanks for your comment!

Well I gave you that because I think the main image in the border could have been caught out alittle better but apart from that tis perfect and technically yes but originality is the originality of a border/background and creativity is how it is presented. you can have a non original amazingly creative piece of art

OOoh very seasonal I do like the bright colours, very cheerful! I love the sweeping effect, very well done (I can get wonky lines ) I like the images on their side, not something I have ever thought to do I could be wrong but is the image in the main part the right way up? I didn't notice it at first, but I think I see its a woodland path now. Very good job with the seam, almost invisible, excellent Over all I really like this, the colours melt into one another and the effects are very creative. Very good work

    Creativity ~ 19.5

    Blending ~ 19.4

    Colours ~ 19.7

    Originality ~ 19.5

Title/Rules ~ 18.3 title did let you down, sorry.

    Total ~ 96.4 Great score!

I didn't know that the title was graded until Arkbear commented (I didn't see it anywhere in the contest description) and at that point it was too late. Hopefully I'll get a better score in that area when it comes to my second piece. Thanks for the comment

    Hi Tim,
I'm not a fan of pictures turned on their side, nor super saturated vibrant colors. But the colors on the border go well with each other. What I actually like here a whole lot more is the streaked background layered over another photo, it looks painterly and like the first photo from deviantart.

As for you font colors, they are legible, but I think they could be subtler. The white is too stark and incompatible as a font color choice here, in my opinion.

    1. design/composition 18.0

    2. originality(of concept) 17.6

    3. color(compatibility) 17.0

    4. execution 19.8
    (effects/clarity/resolution/seamless)

    5. Legibility 19.2
(readability/sufficient contrast between type and background.)

    TOTAL 90.0

No editing should be done once a judge has critiqued your work.

Love the vibrant colors in your border! And I really like how you've faded the background (which is lovely!) so that it is easier to see the font on.
I like the unusual twist on the trees being on their sides, as I think it prob. shows more of the coloring that way.
    Nice job.
    best wishes in the contest.

    Hello Tim ~

I must let you know, I will never hold back my thoughts on how I feel about an entry into any of my contests ~

....even for a B & B Contest, as I feel creativity comes in many forms, and should be looked at in many different perspectives....I hope you can appreciate mine

First off, my initial impression, was to bend my head as far sideways as I could to see the depth of your entry ~

Not a bad thing.....but not something I would want to do again ~

However......you have an Artistic License which no person can take from you, and you are the Artist, not me, therefore, I applaud you for taking a chance with this version of Presentation ~

Your fade is cautious.....I can see where you graphed your transition, but, I can also see how well you did it ~

I am not too fond of the Background Graphics under the terrific colours of smear, as I have to struggled to figure it out.....and I don't think it is possible.....but this is only my opinion.....you have other Judges coming behind me before the week ends ~

I adore the Colours....my notes will say more about that ~

Over-all, a slight bit of hesitation to see what you saw, when you created this, but, after I stared it for a while, I feel as though a person really has to appreciate Art to like this piece.....nice job ~

    Good luck and God bless,

    Bear ~

Title....15.0...In the future, remember, we are going to look at every part of your Creation.....yes, even the Title, as Creativity is your biggest Challenge with the B & B Contests....have no fear, you can change it, or leave it after the contest closes  ~

Colours...17.5...I totally appreciate the mixture of sea-affect smears....awesome affect....the distinct yellow shows well on the Border ~

Creativity...18.75...I think the continuing trunk of that tree is most creative.....it has your personal stamp on it ~

Presentation...18.0...The transition from Border to Background, is almost perfect...not a fan of that strict line of brown....and even though unique, the sideways graphic is still something I would have to get used to ~

    First Impression...16.25...confused at first.....and then I saw your talent!~

    Bears Score:  85.5

Not bad Tim.....the Title was hit the hardest....I want to know if you change it after the Contest

No editing once a Judge has touched your work ~

      Hello, my friend.

I don't receive much good feedback on my art so I very much appreciate this. I think I'll be entering consistantly into your weekly contest, if you don't mind. I do hope you realize this is going to be a struggle to judge, though. Because just like poetry, there are people who can turn a word document into a picture with their words and there are those who can barely put a poem together. In the art world here on AllPoetry, there isn't too many good graphic artists (in my opinion). A lot are still just learning and aren't using the best of the best programs... so I'm not sure if your going to be judging based on the best or based on what they did, etc. I guess I'll just have to see. It's hard to judge professionals (like myself... I get paid for doing this sort of thing) against amateures.

Anyways, about what you said. First of all, I guess I wasn't aware that the title counted and will work on that for my next entry. Secondly, about the picture on the left... I don't believe you have to turn your head to the left to view it... you can get the emotions, feel, color, depth, and wonder from the picture by looking at it straight on. Third, about the stretching of the color to the right... I feel like it gives texture to the entire background, blends similar colors together, as well as isn't too distracting. Fourth, as far as the picture faded in the middle, I did do a lot of work for blending it, you're right. The reason that is there is to give a little bit more depth to this background. On the right you have a scene of a forest that's tilted and on the left you have a road scene that still fits the theme, blended together to balance out the picture and give more depth.

Now that I know your taste and what you like and dislike, I'll create YOUR masterpiece

        Cool!

All we can do, is say what we feel, how we feel it, and what made us feel it ~

I like your enthusiasm.....looking forward to your work, Tim ~

        God bless and good luck!
