Hoo Are You?

Missing image

On snowy wings of wisdom's grace,

White owls circle just above me;

They love the melody of my violin,

Though I'm locked away, in captivity.

They are winter's birds of wonder,

Who may help me in my plight;

Their spirits are very kind to me,

And I'll go with them on their flight.

With my saviors' wings tonight,

I shall break free of this chain;

Let all who hear, please understand,

I have nothing to lose but pain.

Seeking freedom is my quest,

As their grateful, humble guest.

Author notes

This sonnet is about finding freedom, with a little help from feathered friends.

    I have a few stories about my experiences with these gorgeous creatures. One involves Emily almost getting picked up by one, about three years ago!
    That owl must've spanned 10 feet across!
    Not kidding, Emily was outside playing in the little bit of snow we had on the ground. It was nearly sundown.
    I never saw anything that big fly on it's own.

    Beautiful imagery, as usual you rhyme is lovely.
    You make a great sister, I'll vouch for you
    Peace my friend,
    Jin

    A lovely Piece, I met one once in the cold of winter sitting on a fence post in bright sunshine. His eyes were a glaring yellow and I was no more than 50 feet away. We just starred at each other for a while. They are huge owls and this was the biggest I have ever seen. I'm not going to say I won the stare as he flew away, but I was in awe. My best wishes always.

    Such a graceful beautiful sonnet, it was music to my senses. The last two lines made it perfection. I will be honoured to have you as my adopted AP Sister, thank you so much for entering
