I tried poetry,
But when it came to describing the feelings inside
I found I was lost for words
Maybe not lost, but my thoughts seemed so tangled,
an intricate web of incomprehensible emotion.
I sat confused and at a loss, if I couldn’t tell you how I felt then where would that leave us?
Would you always wonder?
I took a dictionary from the shelf
Hoping to find the answer, or maybe my muse
Flicking through the pages,
I found
LOVE: any object of warm affection or devotion
Was that it?
What about the burning, falling helpless feeling deep inside of me every time our eyes meet?
The hopelessness and complete loss when we’re apart?
The calm and tranquillity at the mere touch of your hand
I looked further and found
IRRISISTABLE: impossible to resist; overpowering
But that’s not it, surly there must be more?
It doesn’t explain what you do to me with just a glance
The flame of desire that courses through my entirety at the pout of beautiful lips
Or even the scent of perfume from your hair
INFACTUATED: marked by foolish or unreasoning fondness
PASSION: strong feeling or emotion
CRAZY: intensely enthusiastic about or preoccupied with
ETERNALLY: for a limitless time
Every single one, just a word,
Each one with its own definition, but as flat and lifeless as the paper upon which it was printed
These words were just letters, syllables, nouns…. Our spoken and written language
Is that the answer I wondered?
And sat smiling.
For what I have to tell you my love can never come close with just words and phrases,
Beautiful poetry and sentiments written with love are always welcome,
But the love we share is better defined by our deep kiss, our longing embrace
The feel of your hand in mine, deep sighs and the helpless falling feeling whenever our eyes meet. You are my heart, my life, my soul. Every breath, every dream, every emotion
And every day it just gets stronger
I’m in love with you
Forever and always
