tethered to earth, like hawk to hand,
I strained against leathery bonds
so tired of being hand fed
when he lifted me and sent me on to forage,
expecting I would return
he forgot such wing-aching sorrow
can sometimes cause disobedience
and I flew
away from such control, and fear, and heartache
into a blue that was tinged with sunset’s blood
as it gave birth
to my freedom
that waited

There is such free movement between these lines - as so often from you, this is a marvel of metaphor.

-
Taking steps it seems as first small then larger and finally the great leap to freedom, and the thoughts and will ...the real keys...wonderful...PK

"and I flew
away from such control, and fear, and heartache"
i absolutely loved this.
it was short and simple, yet it exudes such... freedom
thanks so much for this brilliant entry!

-
This is brilliant, it immeidately went to my heart and spirit, although I feel no fetters, perhaps I long for more freedom. The tribute to the senses is outstanding in this. This is a poem I shall return to again and again.

Sigh,,,
I cannot tell you how much I can relate to this right now and how much I needed to read this and KEEP reading it in the coming months...I am blessed to have found this which gave me strength when I was feeling so weakened...TY my friend for always providing such words of wisdom and strength even when you do not realize how much you are helping feed the souls of sisters
