Excepting sunrise glorious
As first light, radiant orange
Banishing midnight's star strewn sky;
A desert's beauty is subtle.
Excepting a lone hawk's high dark dot
Riding thermals in crystalline air
To pierce space with shrill sound arrows;
A desert's beauty is subtle.
Excepting a lush Persian carpet,
Wildflowers simultaneously
In bloom after torrential rain;
A desert's beauty is subtle.
Excepting the stain-glass sunset's
Streaked glowing golden stream flow to
Mixed tones apricot and crimson;
A deserts beauty is subtle.
Author notes
The Kyrielle is a new form for me. As a Latin response hymn at mass I knew it but didn't realise it was also a poetic form. Lots of fun.
