It’s a war on terror,
it’s a war on humankind,
it’s a war for oil!
I rant because I believe
there must be a better way!
I speak against war
for all the lost souls,
wounded bodies of soldiers,
seamen, airmen and marines.
I address these issues because
it’s election time.
It’s time to throw the ruling bums out
on their collective ears!
I will continue my rave until
all of our brave people are home again!
I spout off, mouth off, jabber on,
because this war is a crime
against the world, and mankind!
All of our leaders give us nothing
but lies, propaganda, untruth,
claptrap, blah-blah and bombast's of
misleading political,
fear inducing, newspeak!
I am furious, angry, confused,
mad, so sad about how this
arrogant war has turned out,
in five years of asinine,
stubborn leadership!
I am sick of the fustian,
pompous, ambiguities given us
by our leaders’ excuses for logic
and appeals for support.
I must address these grievances
to our people, our humanity,
our desires for peace and tranquility.
War is a cult, a craze, a fad
of madness, of madmen, of sociopaths,
of lunatics, drunken with power.
Is this war a furor with a passion
for violence, killing, exploitation, occupation?
Is this storm an outburst of killing,
wounding, maiming --
a portent of the unfortunate things to come?
Or is there a sign of hope
in the November election?
Is this harangue in vain,
or can we really do something
about the mess, we’re in?
it’s a war on humankind,
it’s a war for oil!
I rant because I believe
there must be a better way!

for all the lost souls,
wounded bodies of soldiers,

Thanks for the comments!
Thank you all for you interest, comments and especially Green Manalishi for the short poetic reply / comment! -
I agree with most of your commentary but was a little disheartened by some misspellings (fair warning - I am an English major & a bit of a stickler on things like that!) Having said that, I hope that November does bring with it some serious change as that is the only chance this country has to rectify the most major issues it has seen since the early eighties. Thank you for your entry & good luck!

- Consistent Theme
- Good Message
- Good Passion
- um... your Spoken Word flow is not consistent. I think sometimes you allowed your passion to distract you from your target writing form.
Thank you very much for your entry. -
Very nicely said! I'm also looking forward to November, as are many, with the same regard as yours.
From one of my favorite songs:
Politicians hide themselves away.
They only started the war.
Why don't they go out to fight.
They leave arrows to the poor.
Time will tell that they have power mined,
Making wars just for fun.
Treating people just like pawns in chess,
Wait 'till their judgement day comes!

New words but not new views on the subject of your ELECTION! Easy for us up here to jabber as you say about the conference going on right now..But we are in the same position with an election and likely war being an issue ahead for us. For the sake of the dear ones who have lost their lives in this war, I would like to think it has not been in vain! Glad to hear someone airing their concerns because I am even though I am a Canadian up here. Good write pr!
