One Special Lady

she lost her mom and dad,
When she was very young.
Suddenly not knowing what she had,
She was taken in by a new family.

There she grew into a young lady,
With a talen and love for piano.
She thought that maybe just maybe
She would be a famous musican one day.

That dream was stolen from her too,
When she developed a strange disese.
Arthritis was found in few
That were hardly twenty one.

About that time, her sister died,
As did her adopted mom and dad.
Her life had been such a painful ride,
It was hard to see any good in it at all.

But still she chose to write,
Poems that inspire us still today.
Telling of the special light
That seemed to carry her through her life.

Many of her writings are now songs too,
That we sing to reminds us of all we have.
I would have to say that very few
Could turn curses into blessings like she did.

Author notes

Her Name is Annie Johnson Flint, and I think she is one of the greatest poets in history.

I really like this poem because it is inspirational and informative. I've never heard of Annie Johnson Flint before; would you send me one of her poems?
