earthquake

we ran
like lava fleeing from the cavern;
underestimating
the power of the fireworks
falling from our hearts
that formed ice crystals
within our eyes.

Author notes

"I lie here on the ocean floor,
broken castle by the shore & I made this mess,
I built this fire, are you still mine?"
