Paul Atreides

Missing image
In the vast reaches of space from times yet known,
within the sprawling empire of Padishah Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV,
upon the lush distant planet of Caladan
there is born unto Duke Leito Atreies the just and his concubine, the witch, Jessica,
a son of destiny and promise, Paul Atreides.
He grows tall and wise, full of courage,
his proud and noble features sculptured by rigors in warrior training,
learning the primary rule of leadership, "fear is the mind killer."

Traveling with his parents and their army across the stars
to assume governorship of the planet, Arrakis,
where they mine the spice, Melange, which induces with mystical powers,
including the ability to "fold" space for travel the cosmos in seconds.

But sabotage quickly gains its alleys and their dreaded enemies,
the House Harkonnen from the planet Geidi Prime kill the Duke
and conquer Arrakis.
Paul and his mother are sent off to die in the desert,
perhaps a feast for the giant worms.
In the bleached sands, they become apart of the locals called, Fremen,
and after Paul drinks the "Water of Life" he transforms into their ruler,
guiding in assaults against their common enemy,
eventually goodness winning over evil
as the "sleeper" awaken within Paul.
His sister pronouncing at their victory over Harknonnan and Emperor,
how he has become the messiah of their prophecies, " Kwisatz Haderach,"
the universe's super being.

In booming voice he shudders the ground,
his eyes command rain to fall on the desert planet,
all the galaxy ever changed by his transcendence,
peace comes, divinity affirmed,
by the face born of mortals
who becomes their god.
