My Milkshake Brings All The Boys To The Yard :)

this brain freeze in a cup
loaded with whiskey
trickling down my throat
feel the sensation of burning alchahol

the calm, cool, and collected ice
but this drink will take a turn

Malt shops pop up
one at every corner
soda fountains pouring this "malted milk"
teens raving for the new drink
feel the need for an icy, chocolate dairy drink
and then the blender came into view

electricity: a helpful friend
to this frothy drink of mine
and the mix we use from the green wall
walgreen's forever placed in history
loving this malt
forgetting the war with a shaken milk

the 50's where the milkshake shined
ice cream added to make a tantalizing treat
the restaurants loving the money
kids loving the taste
velvets taking America by storm

modern day lovers of the milkshake
we use them for our aches and pains
for our stress and lack of tonsils
but most of all
we drink them because over the years
they became an American past time

This poem makes me want a milkshake! Even though I had one last night.

    "electricity: a helpful friend
to this frothy drink of mine
and the mix we use from the green wall
    walgreen's forever placed in history
    loving this malt
forgetting the war with a shaken milk"

I like this stanza. Nice job with the prompt. Thanks for entering.
