Barefoot, shorts above the knee
A blanket, some drinks...just you and me
That's the recipe
For what the perfect day should be
Warm sun, fluffy white clouds
Float lazy in the sky, I sigh aloud
Forever, you have vowed
I smile because I know "forever" is not allowed
You look at me, and I look back at you
Then you laugh- you know it isn't true
Quietly, happily we stare into the blue
fading into a perfect sunset hue
We lie to each other, for fun's sake
As we skip rocks across the lake
With youth, there are no risks too great to take
What fond memories summer romance will make.

I just joined this website today and the first (and only) poem I have up is about someone i met this summer as well. I really feel like i can relate to your poem and I think that your last two lines were a good way to end it. Maybe you will be able to relate to mine as well.

What excellent imagery. This describes a weekend I just had with a loved one. It was priceless, just as this poem is. I enjoyed this a great deal. Well done, indeed!

This holds some good details in imagery. It filled my mind with all sorts of visions of sweet summer memories, best of luck in the contest.
