I promise to remain your dearest friend;
to walk life’s road together hand in hand
discovering a glimpse of wonderland
and treasuring each moment that we spend.
I always will be worthy of your trust
and never criticize the way you drive,
just grateful that we will arrive alive.
not crumbled into blowing bits of dust.
I’ll never be too busy for a hug
while kisses will remain my favorite drug.
I’ll laugh at jokes that I have heard before,
not air our dirty laundry in the breeze;
instead of nagging ask you gently,”please”
and write you loving letters by the score.
I pray each day is better than the last
that sadness doesn’t hover by our door,
and we will find we love each other more
as we examine memories from the past.
Today I vow with honesty and grace
to end each day within your warm embrace.
