A Fairy Party for Your Birthday, Aneka!

Missing image

A blue Fairy Wren in the Wattle.

'A silver bat and a golden ball!'

A little fairy made this call.

No one heard her I'm sure, but me

As I sat under a wattle tree.

'A silver bat and a golden ball!'

Again she made her fairy call.

And sitting in the wattle tree

She smiled and waved a branch at me.

I know it was no dream you see

For September brings the wattle tree

Bearing pretty gifts, Aneka, for you ...

Who hears the Wattle Fairy's Hal-loo.

Congratulations as you wear

The Wattle Fairy's fluffy Crown

This happy Crown Birthday fair,

So laugh and laugh and do not frown!

[With lots of Aussie love from Ron in Australia.]

Author notes

Congratulations as you wear the Wattle Fairy's Crown.

    Hello,

I know where Australia is on the map! You are the one who phoned me from over the sea!!!

Thank you for my poem!! Mommy made me a book and this one is also in the book.

I think the birdie is a real one cause all my wishes on my birthday came true!

Did you know that my favorite colour is blue, same as the birdie?

I will also write a poem to everyone to say thank you, but first I need a nap Mommy said that if we nap we grow faster!

You must see how big I got from my Birthday, I can also now switch on the light at home!

    Thank you for the poem!

    Anny

The bird is a blue fairy wren. Australians who live in the country as I do know the bird well. And, yes, it is magic at times. I like to think so!
Naps are good for the young and the old and even for your Mommy.
It is a pleasure to lead a group with people like you in it.
The fairy wren brought me silver and I'm so happy. I am happy because you like listening to it read. Wattle is Australia's Floral emblem.
for now. I like your pink ribbons. And your poems!!!

This was such a beautiful poem! Thank you very much! Aneka loves Nature and magic and you captured both in this poem! She enjoyed this and I got the famous line from her: " again please momma"...

Thank you for taking part in the contest and being part of her birthday!

This is written very well for a five year old mind. It is magical and bubbling with inagery. Great work.

I loved the first two stanzas of this poem - they really fit together well and set up a wonderful little tale - the ending stanzas were very sweet and I'm sure that this will be a much loved poem the addition of the Wattle crown is really adorable!

    Keep writing
