The Ceremony Of Morning

    "Solobo says
that some of the dove feathers
were among the relics
at the saint’s shrine
until 1447,
when they were stolen by a rival shrine”

“what’s that got to do with anything?”
Lisa says, pouring the coffee
somewhere in the vicinity
of delicate lace lined cups,

“It’s a Mystery,” I say,
squinting at the sugar cubes
which will not make a castle
no matter how hard I try,
even in the dark inside it is dark
just the same as it is outside
if you look far enough.

“Oh, tell me, old beloved, Night”
she quotes,
it’s from a poem she says
stealing my sugar cubes,

the cups swaying above the table
as though a miracle had occurred,

the passage of blood through the breast;
the shadow
just a curl that had obscured her face
passed
and I returned to the doves who had carried
the saint away.

This is a great piece of writing to start one's day with. In the context on this piece - I loved this

the cups swaying above the table as though a miracle had occurred

and the opening stanza that sets the whole piece up.

    good piece!

    Excellent

Hmm... Rather intriging imagery, I must admit, I rather like this unusal write. Very well written, indeed.

Thanks. I'll own this Pome. That is, if you don't mind.
Even though I know it is not for me -- it is that imagery thing you've got going on
pictographs telling a story -- all traces back to the Chinese you know.

    Imagine stealing dove feathers.

I thought there would be mention of a nipple. Tease.
