She Rides a Steel Horse

Missing image
She was set upon a steel horse,
her hair was blowing free.
Winding down that open road,
she had nowhere to be.

Out riding day and night for weeks,
to try and catch her soul.
No time to stop; no time to sleep,
a bit out of control.

Strutting in to get a bite,
then on that horse again.
Looking for the edge of life,
a moment from insane.

Dressed in leather as black as night
she flies on through the hills.
Never slowing on a quest,
for that perfect little thrill.

Riding through the driving rain,
she gives the thunder hell.
Nothing stops her on her horse,
and nothing ever will.

She’s a beauty men can’t rule
she’ll take no shit from them.
They’ll try to catch her,
try to speak, but only are condemned.

She loves the road it is her sister,
born two days apart.
Feeling free they think as one,
the difference is their heart.

Riding free is in her blood,
at midnight or at noon.
She will ride in blazing heat,
or the coolness of full moon.

The roaring of her big V-twin,
the whisper of the belt.
The custom orange mixed with the black,
the droplets seem to melt.

Raised on the road since she was born,
saddlebags her crib.
Dirty dew rags around her neck,
she wore just like a bib.

She’s never been in love,
and her boyfriend is the wind.
She doesn’t know how long she’s rode,
or how it did begin.

It’s a battle never ceasing,
the miles will take their toll.
She won’t stop until she finds it,
I’m talking about her soul.

I liked this and the way it really seemed to capture a sense of freedom and independence, although i liked how at the end you gave her a sense of looking for something.I loved the rhyme and rhythm and my mind was really intigued by the story you told, you created a wonderful character in a wonderful write. Great work x
