The Weight
Inconsequential weight
That fills the silence
Pushing down on the impermanence
Of something that reality no longer holds
It presses ever so gently
Upon the surface of skin
Not so soon forgotten
Of touch and remembering
Of what was
And what wasn’t
Imagined weight
Floating above the horizon
Tentacles of dissonance
That collapse around
The unknowing
The unrelieved
The shattered glass
That blows past
The very core
Of something you thought
Something you knew
That you were
That you were not
Intellectual weight
Mistakes caste in iron nakedness
Dressers of momentary misery
Caught in spidery webs
Of truth and lies
That fall across the face of reality
And touch the unspoken words
That fall
A n d crash
Cascading into obscenities
That are said aloud
That are said in silence
That are never said
And forgotten
Let me float
Above my insecurities
To run away into
Dreams of pastel paleness
And remember.
I
What did you think
