The Night Has Only Just Begun.

oh, the rush around me,
the night captures my eyes.
feel the darkness around me,
cool black hands of ice,
the rush of fear surrounds me,
taste the bitter blackness on my tongue
but the night has only just begun.

tortured tragic screams they cry,
bleeding snowflakes fall and die,
icy wetness on my finger tips,
harsh words spill forth from my lips,
might as well be throwing knives,
really, i'm getting sick of these fights,
and the tragic story they tell.

once again i find myself,
sitting on my window sill,
legs up on the bookshelf high,
letting out the same shrill cry.
the tragic story keeps unfolding,
all the while the pain keeps growing,
but the night has only just begun.

my heart is pounding in my chest,
i fought and died, but tried my best,
but all the while the pain just grew,
and still the same you never knew,
just how much i had always loved you,
and all those harsh words were to keep you safe,
but this world is such a tragic place.

but all the same you never knew,
all my life, it was all for you.
this world so full of secrets and such beautiful lies
so vicious, so spiteful,
that none can survive,
but now my fighting is over and done,
and the night has only just begun.

maybe it's just me,
my fight's just gone,
and i've been here too long,
maybe i'm just giving up too easily,
just like you gave up on me.
you never really wanted me,
but soon you'll see you needed me

the world is such a bitter place,
it gets worse after dark,
as night settles across the land,
it comes down to fighting tooth and nail,
the battles close at hand,
there is no option to stand on your own,
when you can hardly even stand.

but stand fast against the battles,
it gets so much worse in the dark,
gunshots blasting, tires screeching,
bullets stop your heart,
you'll find out soon you needed me,
you needed someone to hold your hand,
but the night isn't over, it just began

so we'll find out soon who has the will,
who has the strength to stand.
you'll find out soon what the blackness holds,
what happens to this town at night,
but you'll never make it on your own,
you never learned to fight.
but maybe by some chance of luck, you'll see morning light.

the street's a bloody battle now,
bathed in milky moonlight glow,
the darkness stirs and i grow cold,
the tragic story again unfolds,
but who knows what the future holds?
you may not make it to see the sun,
but the night has only just begun.

vivid and passionate. The words flowed from the page and leapt forth full grown into images. Being abandoned can be an emotionally devastating experience, I'm happy that poetry is your outlet. You have a knack for it!

To me the first stanza seems like it does not start the poem you may want to re word the first few lines. Also you need to make your punctuation the same throughout some lines have commas some don't. I would also suggest capitalizing I's when they don't start a line and on their own. Wonderful story line, though it's sad. Also very well done on the rhyming.
