...flowers in the sun

Someone painted flowers on the dunes today. Bright yellow, pink and purple winking among the greens. Colors have sprung up almost overnight, as if the beach is having a parade to say goodbye to all the summer visitors.

The sky reflects the profusion of color with another sort of 'flower'-kites of every shape, color and size. Some streaming tails hundreds of feet long, some simple triangular 'birds', spinning and weaving across the blue, afloat on the currents of air.

Beneath the sky, and beyond the dunes, are endless 'sprays' of umbrella 'flowers', replete with busy 'bees' sprinting back and forth between them. And beneath these, the ground too has gone from sandy beige to brilliant hues and patterns even God would find dazzling.

Out upon the water are sails-some striped, some pristine white, bobbing merrily over the tops of the whitecaps like so many waterlilies on a huge rippling pond.

Layer after layer of color and light, while over all is that magical sound of wind and wave...the heartbeat of the sea.

Bright yellow, pink and purple winking among the greens.

the breeze bends the flower heads causing
each face to flit across my plane of view
like the sparkle angle of a sequin

LOve the colors of your beach, over, under, around and through. Well said.

The parade of color was unavoidable, and thanks so much for the great comment, Buddy. Always good to hear from you. Peace, Rhonda

    Brilliant Work

Stunningly beautiful... if these were the opening lines of a novel, I bet it would be a best-seller in a matter of days! So poetic and vivid, you reveal the flowers and colours so well...you are truly gifted, friend. Congrats and best regards!

Done! I won't need to do much of my job, because the novel will be a hit soon after the first copy is sold
