Watch and Ward

Missing image

Beyond the dark of scrim sublime
I feel the power in my bones
I know that it is almost time
I won't complain, will not bemoan

For this is not the worst of those
Moments that still my heart to be
So, I will not mention my woes
Or strike the chord of misery

Yet age is almost in its wane
A winding up of life and limb
And I do not think it insane
To pour my living to the brim

I've served this world as best I can
Gave offering to young and old
My strength as good as any man
Received my portion laced in gold

And now I watch the light that shines
That calls me home to victory
The sun and moon pitched forth aligns
This ministry of poetry

home from the sea, home from adventure is really when the sense of adventure and sense of home are both inside of us, mixing for the struggle no longer to have one or the other, finally they coalesce...such is the virtue of time...so very wiseley and well done here...PK

Your piece was a beautiful reflection of the photo Sandy.
I don't use clips from within the writing often but this stanza especially had so much emotion for me today that I wanted to highlight it.
