The door

Here I stand
completely frozen in fear
unable to take a single step forward
to reach for the knob that would open
not only the door
but my heart as well.

I fear what is on the other side
of this door.

I fear the pain of rejection...
of past terrors made real.

I fear you would not want
what I have to give you.

But you see
I'll never know for sure
unless I find the courage
the courage to take a step forward
reach for a dream
for a hope
that this one time
it will be different
when I open that door.

I thought this told great emotion through metaphor.

Taking a chance can always be scary. I liked the layout of your write, and understood it was a free write before reaching the authors notes. I personally enjoy all kinds of forms of poetry. Usually judge according to originality, and the use of the prompt.

I like how you carry the reader to the whole realm of the feels people go through, and your use of imagery and metaphors is well done.

Thank you so much for entering my contest, it was a welcome pleasure to read and review your work.

    Best of luck to you,
    Florida Sunshine

Ahh yes and this is something we all feel and think, so your words are what many people will relate to here, myself included. Noone likes rejection and every time we open new doors that is probably the biggest fear.
    An excellent write.
All the best in the contest
