As Faith Grows

I pray each day that God will hold
My spirit in His loving palm
To be His sheep within the fold
Unto my soul He is the balm.

And when temptation shows it's sway
I pray each day that God will hold
His light in front to guide my way
So I'm not left out in the cold.

With every breath His love enfolds
To lift my life and face the world
I pray each day that God will hold
My spirit as my faith unfurls.

And as I slow in Winter's charm
I hope in time I shall behold
Eternal peace within His arms
I pray each day that God will hold.

Prompt - Spirit

Quatern
A Quatern is a sixteen line French form composed of four quatrains. It is similar to the Kyrielle
and the Retourne. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The first line of
stanza one is the second line of stanza two, third line of stanza three, and fourth line of stanza
four. A quatern has eight syllables per line. It does not have to be iambic or follow a set rhyme
scheme.

    Thank you for your entry

Another prayer like poem. You do well with these faith based prompts. I always enjoy reading of your devotion to God.

The form was done right on spot. Your refrain line carried through the poem well. You followed the syllable count well. There was not rhyme called for in this or iambic meter, and though you did have rhyme in your poem there was nothing consistant. I find I prefer that this form be done with rhyme, but that was not stipulated in the rules at all and you did follow the form exactly. So kudos for that.

I encourage you to keep writing to read and comment.

    God Bless
    Tammy

This was an interesting and successful use of the refrain line since it is the first part of a different idea in each stanza and then closes the poem perfectly. Good luck in this contest. Peace, Liz
