An American

English, mostly,
Coming from the people
We meant to escape.
Bits of me come from Wales,
A small Celtic country,
Of noble people.
Then I too come from Holland,
A people tortured by the Nazi's,
The land of Corrie Ten Boom
Green blood flows through me,
Clovers of luck,
And pints of Guiness,
I'm an Irish lass.

So many nationalities,
There may possibley be more,
But I may not know.
This is my past,
The past of my ancestors.
They came from these countries,
Some escaping hardships,
Others maybe just exploring.
I'm English,
I'm Dutch
I'm Welsh,
I'm Irish,
But Mostly
I'm American.

Please tell me what you think
