The room is silent,
our conversation paused,
I look at the ceiling
with absolute uncertainty.
Your hand reaches for my cheek,
I shudder in response,
not knowing how to react,
not knowing how I feel
But you pull me to you,
and I look into those eyes,
your pupils dilated,
your smile wide.
For a brief moment,
I let down my wall,
your lips touch mine,
and I forget all my misfortune.
Swept away by how I fit in your arms,
swept away by how you're looking at me,
In the back of my mind,
there still is doubt.
But the doubt is clouded
by the smile you can't hide.
As I melt in your arms
and I feel my soul intertwine,
my heart lets go of my pain,
and your kiss soothes it all.
