His Poetic Essence

I would have your essence
in the panes of my love,
where I would gaze into stars and moon
and see the world through you
to know the scent of your skin.

Lips felt as if never kissed
body unused, and love
seemed too precious to endure.

I touched you as if for the first time
we bathed in touch and silver light,
soared to heights and love took flight
so soft the rise the sounds so low.

You became mine
in the moment of an exhale;
breath upon your neck
words tumbled in passion's tones.

Choosing soft lips and warm night air
we bathed in bare moonlight and love
where lasting love swirls upon stillness
and we need only reach …to touch forever.

You were there in fresh part of day
when morning air reminded
of cool water on skin, and skin
remembered beads of dew.

I do not count seconds like a clock
but the seasons of my soul turn without
prediction, and sun leads me to you

in light that captures shapes of shadows
gives form to windy kisses upon leaves
brings memories of seas and sunshine roses,
lips seek comfort of an answer.

A wishful moment
shared in time we give
as touching, creates by gesture
memory we might hold,
like morning folded into a risen day,

and slowly smiles
covered my face.

If you were near me, these would be mine
and your body would know my touch
and the awful speed of snails.

Author notes

The cento is a poetic form made up of lines from poems by other poets.

These lines were written by Peteskid and included in the following poems:

and so we love…
a vacant wind
choosing…
clay days
Endless
fireflies dance
last night
moments…
rushes…
solemn night
something…
Veranda
waves…

Tis is gorgeous, how you made the lines fit so well into each other. It reads very smooth and has the perfect pace.
I fell in love with that last line, and am happy to see it here again

Liz, this is just amazing. I admire this effort so much. This kind of thing takes so much time, not just to research beautiful lines, but to assimilate them in a perfectly synthesized poem. You have done that here to great effect and have chosen many lines that I recognize immediately...yet you use them fresh. Just loved this! This was such a special birthday tribute, and so sweetly thoughtful of you. Thank you, gal.
