Agnostic, Atheist or Heathen

How is it you fear that which you do not believe,
and denounce those whom to God do cleave?
Why would you fear what you say has no existence,
yet debate it with such resistance?
Why would a skeptic of God even read these things,
agnostic or atheist you sing,
while declaring His fiery wrath frightens you—
or, read as an avowed heathen, too?

Ah, but there is a reason you should fear God's wrath,
besides walking Satan's deadly path;
for no matter which way you have chosen to go,
all are born with a soul in the know.
You have chosen to ignore its deeply felt plea,
thus it makes you fear what you can't see;
for your spirit has no other way of warning
that death will be yours come Christ's morning.

How is it you don't see that His sheep have no fear,
o'er His wrath shedding nary a tear?
Yet, of His fire you cringe, tremble, wrangle and shout,
urging the likes of me to get out,
labeling us as vile speakers of gloom and doom.
How is it you felt not from the womb
Father's love left with you when He sent you to earth:
an awareness of Him since your birth?

God now asks you, "How is your way working for you?
How is your life of fear, and pain, too?
How is it to fear things that go bump in the night,
or walk a dark path with no flashlight,
or to fear most men or women or even love,
or fear a sudden breath from above?
Why would you turn ugly by fear when I give none?
Fear slays you, when all is said and done."

    Nice Work Here!

You really brought this subject right into the light. Your flow, content, word choice & questions are so insightful & clear. You put this piece together well & it reminds me on many conversations I've had with people who find my understanding challenging & not obliging! Hey....political correctness doesn't supersede following The Way of The Christ!

Amen, Sis! Political correctness only makes people liars and that's a step down a path of destruction. Thank you so much for the encouraging words about this poem. It's always good to know that, while only a few, at least there are a few like you that know God's Truth and won't let that thing called "political correctness" deter you from speaking it. Amen!

      Luv ya! SisBon

Very nice..by the way I love the picture you included, it made me giggle xD
anyway..I don't understand why so many athiest are quick to point out contradictions, a lot of them don't take the time to read the rest of the verse before they say such things. Though I'm not really religious, I've seen this done before. My belief on why they do this, is not really that they are scared of God himself..but there are a lot of those athiest that were raised to be christian, so maybe apart of them is a bit scared of it just because it was in-grained in them at such a young age? Just trying to be little sociologist ha yea i dunno, thanks for entering, I admire your strong opinions on this subject. Good luck

Thank you, hon, for accepting the poem into your contest and for the insight. This poem was inspired by a few A/P poets who had said to me that the "hell fire and brimstone" frightened them, each being either an agnostic or atheist or avowed heathen.

As for the message it conveys from God, we as His followers are instructed to warn those who are not: else their blood will be on our hands, as opposed to their own hands, so I warn and warn and warn as one of his Handmaidens.

Best wishes for your contest; I know your work will be cut out for you.

      Much love in Christ,
      BonnieQ

I always wonder about that too. Why would people who claim there is no God spend so much time trying to find abnormalities in Christians and contradictions in the Bible? I have questions myself about some of the scripture of the old testiment, but never about the love of Jesus. Richly meaningful poem. I don't see many with that sort of message very often.

Ah, dear brother, thank you for your insight and kind encouragement. The Lord inspired this poem when a few A/P members of the Title expressed the fear that our warnings foster within them. I am reminded that we are to warn those who do not follow Christ, else their blood will be on our hands instead of their own. Thus, I warn all who will hear, for I am one of God's Handmaidens and do not wish to have anyone's blood on my hands.

      Much love, SisBon
