She looks impossible under the streetlamp
All floating skirts and curly hair
Her eyes glisten in the summer air
Here in the south
Even the stars are hot
She is the shoulder to cry on
Her little brother's hero
She speaks french fluently
Until her lips are sewn by the undertaker
She is found in the dirt
Her hair pulled out
Her green panties torn to ribbons
Lying twelve feet away
Her lip is split
The blood, partially congealed
Drips like honey down her chin

Wow..and uhmm..wow. I believe I said this in another poets comment box too..gave me chills from start to finish. I'm getting such good entries
Anyway, I can visualize this very well, great imagery. I also live in a small town. It's a small southern town, any gay family or any african american family that moves in, are all subject to major gossip. It sounds much much worse where you are though. And I understand where you're coming from. I really hope this girl remains safe. Thanks for opening up and writing this! I'll definately try to read some of your poetry when I can also.
