A stormy day took him away,
through torrents, into absence long,
the memories like seconds passing,
kept her wantings ever strong.
The young man is her only thought,
there on the palisade, this night,
though gray storm fronts gather new-
and spectres torment with delight,
Tensions tear as anxious longings,
pierce her heart with dull dismay.
demons with their pitchforks sharp,
cannot burn her hopes away.
By the pillars, marble, cold,
the wind's a whip to torment her
still she hungers, and she holds on,
somewhere finds strength to endure.
Some distant place, he calls to her,
their hearts are one, she will not doubt
she'll take the worst fate deals to her,
and, in the end love will win out.
