The smallest of God's creatures deserves respect
for it has place and purpose on this good Earth.
From actions of mankind all life we must protect
and be proper stewards on our planet of birth.
Life is so rare, whether happenstance or gift-
The universe uncaring, hostile, and cold.
As far as we know, of life space is bereft;
in our only home our impact must be controlled.
I pray that my species will learn from the past
and know that of life there is no guarantee.
If we continue to abuse her, Gaia cannot last.
Oasis in the stars, the future up to you and me.

Words of wisdom written here. Loved the flow of rhyme as well. Thank you for a very thought provoking write!
